Introduction to Communication for Horse People
A Workshop by Changing Rein
$49.00
Most equestrian education focuses on what to do - the technical skills of riding, training, and horse care. But so much of what makes someone a good horse person isn't technical at all. It's about communication: how we attend to what our horses are telling us, how we talk about horses with other equestrians, and how we navigate disagreement in an industry that can get defensive fast.
This 90-minute session introduces a different way of thinking about communication—one grounded in research, but practical enough to use at the barn tomorrow.
What we'll explore:
Why the best horse people are often the best listeners—and what gets in the way of listening well
How your "communication style" shapes your relationships with horses and humans alike
The four dimensions of conversation that research says matter most
Why difficult conversations about welfare don't have to end in conflict
What you'll take away:
Your own Communication Style profile (you'll complete a short quiz during the session)
A framework you can actually remember and use
At least one thing to try differently this week
Who this is for:
This session is for anyone who works with horses and suspects that becoming a better horse person might involve more than just technical skill - coaches, trainers, riders, equine practitioners, or anyone curious about the human side of horsemanship.
You don't need to have it all figured out. I certainly don't. I see myself as a guide, as helping people navigate change that I'm still navigating myself. If that sounds like the kind of space you'd find useful, I'd love to have you join us.
